The 3rd annual CIS Excellence Awards took place on Thursday 18 May 2006 at the Hilton Glasgow.The CIS Excellence Awards looks at rewarding the best talent that Scotland has to offer in the hospitality, catering and tourism industries. Attended by the crème de la crème of the Scottish catering, hospitality and tourism industries, the Awards, known as the cullinary 'Oscars', were an outstanding success, with over 500 guests filling the Grand Ballroom of the Glasgow Hilton. The Development Chef Award recognises the creativity of chefs involved in the Scottish foodservice and/or hospitality industries, with a responsibility for overseeing dishes from the initial concept through to their creation and implementation.

Summary: Prestonfield House on the 1st June played host to the third annual SLTN (Scottish Licence Trade News) Catering Awards dinner– regarded by many as the Scottish hospitality “Oscars”.
Heritage Portfolio were the only company on the evening to win two major awards and were delighted with their wins of both the Food Safety Management Award and the prestigious Caterer of the Year Award. The judges were looking for a company who could demonstrate:
• A flexible and innovative approach to providing food service to customers - one which helps ensure customer interest and satisfaction
• Sound business performance and good business practices
• A clear understanding of food trends and food issues
• Excellent knowledge of, and strong commitment to, compliance with all legislative requirements and best practice
• Good communication with staff and customers
• A commitment to service and quality that is reflected in the management and staff
• An ongoing programme of quality control and service improvements

The judges were looking for a company who could demonstrate:
• Real commitment to food safety and a well-organised and well-understood systems designed to deliver food safety
• Documented food safety management systems based on HACCP principles while demonstrating proper consideration of all hazards and appropriate practical control measures tailored to the circumstances of the business and underpinned by comprehensive staff training and record keeping
• Clear evidence of senior managerial and staff involvement in understanding of and commitment to food safety
• A clear customer focus on food safety which would include getting customer feedback and promoting consumer confidence
• Positive action to protect vulnerable groups including allergy sufferers and those with food intolerances
Award: Microsoft Award for Innovation through Technology - The Chamber Awards 2005 (WINNER)

Summary: Beetroot Blue (part of Heritage Portfolio) was beaten in to second place by BAE Systems for the “Best E Business Award”. Judges were looking for technology innovation, that could clearly demonstrate a benefit to the business.

Summary: These awards have been designed to recognise and reward those organisations that have demonstrated excellence through the use of the Internet and other Information & Communications Technologies. The Awards are open to UK businesses (limited or otherwise), public bodies, registered charities and not-for-profit organisations.
Best Customer Care Online. The best companies pay the utmost attention to customer care. Judges looked for the innovative use of the internet and information & communications technologies to make a step change in the way customers perceive the applicants organisation and value the service they receive. The award went to Beetroot Blue.

Heritage Portfolio were able to demonstrate outstanding professionalism and consistent excellence as an Event Caterer. The judges were looking for a company with a modern, innovative approach to Event Catering. A company that not only satisfies, but supersedes their client’s expectations

Summary: Heritage Portfolio’s Beetroot Blue was awarded with the Award for E Business, through its embracing and adoption of digital technologies to transform the way they do business.
Beetroot Blue had to show successful implementation of new technologies and demonstrated an improvement in business performance following research and implementation of e-business technologies to solve a need. Thus improving internal effectiveness and creating new and better ways of interacting with customers.
The success of implementation needed to be effectively measured and the impact on the overall business performance clearly identified. Beetroot Blue was able to demonstrate that customer satisfaction was at the heart of their business strategy, demonstrating a proven track record of customer satisfaction and continued commitment to exceeding customer expectations.
