You’ll already know that Beetroot Blue keep our costs as lean as the roast beef in our some of our scrumptious sandwiches. But when it comes to worthy causes, we can’t resist going all out to do our bit for our Nominated Charities of the Year. Local and national, charities which have recently enjoyed our donations and contributions throughout previous years include:
Cash For Kids Appeal
Radio Forth’s Cash for Kids have teamed up with Action for Children to raise £60,000 to help neglected kids in this area.
£60,000 could provide 1,200 neglected children with a coat, a jumper and a decent pair of shoes for the coming winter.
£60,000 could provide approximately 330 neglected kids with a piece of fruit every day for a year, ensuring they get the nutrition they need to be strong and healthy in body and mind.
George Watson’s Family Foundation
The George Watson's Family Foundation (GWFF) was established as a registered charity in 1997 and exists to enable children from less advantaged backgrounds to enjoy the scope of education available to those more fortunate. It seeks to raise funds to support bursaries and scholarships and to help to finance the ongoing building programme required to reinforce Watson's pre-eminent position as one of the UK's great schools. The Foundation's major fundraising event of the year, the Caritas Dinner in the ten years to November 2008 had raised over £284,000.
The Sick Kids Friends Foundation
The Sick Kids Friends Foundation was set up in 1992 to support the work of the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh. The Hospital receives over 100,000 children through its doors each year, from all over the East of Scotland. They give assistance in four prime areas.
- provision of extra items and services to make a child's stay in hospital less distressing for both patients and their families
- improvements in child and family facilities
- the supply of extra medical equipment
- paediatric research and training
