You’ll know our food is fantastic, and our service superb, but our packaging hasn’t escaped our obsessive attention to detail either… We’ve spent hours agonising over what to use so that our Beetroot Blue packaging is greener than it is blue or purple!
To combat those nasty food miles incurred whilst returning to collect dirty dishes, Beetroot Blue operates a drop-off service (our love of using excellent local suppliers also helps!). Dirty dishes, prone to chipping and therefore harbouring germs, would also have to be washed before they can be re-used, so we’ve opted for pretty plastic packaging instead.
Now, our plastic had to be practical, perfect for presenting our delicious grub, and good for the environment too. A tall order, but we decided to use PET plastic trays and lids. Airtight, they keep our food fresh and tasty, so it reaches you in tip-top condition and looking good. Plus, recycling them is easy – just pop them in the same recycling as your plastic bottles!
Of course, not content to rest on our laurels, we’re also liaising with a packaging supplier so we can come up with a tray which performs just as well as our current offering, but is made from recycled food grade card. It might be some time before we get there, but we’re dedicated in our quest to be as green and sustainable as possible!
